The girls and I spent a long weekend with Becky and her two girls. We had a lot of good "girl time" and it included lots of shopping, eating and walking. Stayed overnight at Port Orleans French Quarter which is right near Downtown Disney, location of aforementioned shopping, eating and walking.
One of the coolest things about Disney is that you are never at a loss for things to look at. It is a true feast for the eyes and no detail is overlooked, right down to the hitching posts that are on the miniature streets between buildings at the resort. As Becky pointed out, "there is no reason for those to be there, that's just for you." We got a kick out of the street signs. We stayed on the corner of Rue D' Baga and Cake Walk. The girls loved the not-so-hidden Mickey that we found on the bed in our room, made out of towels, naturally.
Keeping with the New Orleans theme, the restaurant where we ate breakfast was draped in an explosion of Mardi Gras favors and icons. Large crowns, masks, necklaces and playing cards were only a few of the oversized wall and ceiling hangings. They had some really awesome coffee there! Not Cafe du Monde but the beignets were surely delish.

mischievous grins
big-squeezy-around-the-neck hugs
daredevil climbing and hanging
pressing buttons and keyboard keys
“Watch. Dora?” [insert cute sideways smile]
“Love you, _____!” [go around room and insert each person's name]
“Pa-pease” (pacifier) and blankie at bedtime
bouncing everywhere
random shoe theft
always in someone else’s shoes, hence above-mentioned theft
“juicey”
loves fruit (esp. blueberries) and pasta
“A, B, C, D, E, F, G, how I wonder what you are! Yayyyyyyyyy!”
“Read it!” [shoves book at you]
Counting: “One, two, FIVE!”
a lot of whining
jumping for no reason
“oh-gut” or “ah-pauce” in Dora bowl - don't forget the "soon"
“Damn!” yes she does and with a lot of volume
“Bless you!” (even for a cough and often from another room)
bursts of enthusiasm
“Mandy? JOHN!” [insert cute-where-are-they gesture]
STUBBORN
climbing out of crib (it's gone now)
did I mention whining?
how about STUBBORN?
crazy curly mop head morning hair
smashing her face against yours to get your attention
"I'll DO it!"
I-could-smooch-her-all-day-long-and-eat-her-up deliciousness

Took our not-so little two-year old to the water park for her birthday. She went up the stairs and down the slide so many times she couldn't see straight. Went it was time to leave, she went boneless and almost refused to let us change her into dry clothes.
The next day we had a family dinner complete with Sesame Street balloons and other decor. The Elmo cake was made by yours truly and was a red velvet cake to match Elmo, natch.
We tried as best we could to get Lyss to hold up two fingers for this picture, but she kept doing 1, 3 or 5. Typical 2-year old. They'll do anything but what you want them to do or they'll just wait until 5 minutes after you stop trying to get them to do it.
Her favorite gifts were her monkey cup from Aunt Mandy and a little baby doll from Grampa (aka "A-pa" or a-PA when she's not getting his attention fast enough.) She does not love water but will drink a whole lot of it if it's out of the monkey. The doll has a bottle and Lyss will hold it up and say, "Drink a bottle," in a sweet little sing-song voice over and over.
Hard to imagine how someone can be such a temper-throwing ball of fire one second and then sweeter than high fructose corn syrup the next. Makes me dizzy sometimes.

I was afraid it would happen eventually - just not before the end of the first month!
Lack.
Of.
Time.
And.
Inspiration.
I've had a long, hard, tiring week. I've been helping Dad with the house painting every night for as much time as we can fit in before dark, trying to ramp up my 10k training and school has been really busy with a new marking period underway and state testing looming.
Today was super crazy anyway and with a bomb threat that delayed our lunch and kept us out in the midday sun thrown in - today was actually hot at just above 80F - well, I'm just wiped out. This is the first time in a long time that I just came home right after school and went to sleep.
So I'm a few days behind on my 365 but I think I've got everyday covered up to yesterday. I'll be back this weekend with my week's worth of photos.
In the meantime, here's my silly monkey at the breakfast table (i.e. sippy cup of milk, cereal pile on the table) yesterday morning.

That is--one water baby and one water not-so-baby. After church, we took the girls over to the park where they have a water area. It was so hot (oh, say about 110 in the sun) that we skipped the play area and went right to the water. Em has played there for years and Lyss is in love with water. Not afraid in the least.
Clearly, she wasn't going to put her sippy cup down no matter what.
Then she discovered a little "window."
And Dada on the other side :)
Then there was this little bridge that she kept walking over. And over. And over.
Still not putting down the cup. Not even to hold on.

A major cut for Em. She had quite a bit chopped off.
Lyss just got her bangs trimmed since they were always in her eyes (see previous post).
And, no, it wasn't raining, she just likes the coat. It certainly looks better with the boots than the pj's, wouldn't you say?

*almost 15-month
Guest post by Miss Lyss
My independence is really important to me. I still like to read books, but if you try to read one to me, I'll close it on your fingers and take it away.
I love shoes now. I especially like wearing my biker boots with my pj's. They even have sparkly pink hearts on them. What more could a girl want?
High chairs are for babies. I prefer to eat my cereal at the table. That way I can stand up in the chair when I get bored. And don't let the bow in my hair fool you. I never keep those in for more than five seconds.
While I probably look very happy in this picture, I cried and threw a tantrum all the way to the bathroom. My newest favorite thing is to lean over repeatedly, nearly obsessively, and put my face in the water, and that makes me very happy.
I am sweet and cute and my mom and dad and Emma love me to pieces!
