Scrappin' Seminole

I'm two yeahs old

Took our not-so little two-year old to the water park for her birthday.  She went up the stairs and down the slide so many times she couldn't see straight.  Went it was time to leave, she went boneless and almost refused to let us change her into dry clothes.

The next day we had a family dinner complete with Sesame Street balloons and other decor.  The Elmo cake was made by yours truly and was a red velvet cake to match Elmo, natch.

We tried as best we could to get Lyss to hold up two fingers for this picture, but she kept doing 1, 3 or 5.  Typical 2-year old.  They'll do anything but what you want them to do or they'll just wait until 5 minutes after you stop trying to get them to do it.

Her favorite gifts were her monkey cup from Aunt Mandy and a little baby doll from Grampa (aka "A-pa" or a-PA when she's not getting his attention fast enough.)  She does not love water but will drink a whole lot of it if it's out of the monkey.  The doll has a bottle and Lyss will hold it up and say, "Drink a bottle," in a sweet little sing-song voice over and over.

Hard to imagine how someone can be such a temper-throwing ball of fire one second and then sweeter than high fructose corn syrup the next.  Makes me dizzy sometimes.

Remember me?

I am so way off base on my 365 goal.  I am going to have to do some backpedaling to get that together.  I have mostly been keeping up with pics, but not EVERY day, so there will be some photo "series" to connect the weeks, I am thinking.

Meanwhile:

Stellan is a happy baby

Stellan
Took a few days to figure things out but Stellan has now experienced 48 hours with no SVT.  The doctors are now getting ready to wean him off of the iv meds (he has a central line that will need to come out before he goes home) and try the oral meds again (that didn't work before).  He (and his family) still need our prayers but he is well rested and his mom posted a wonderful video of him here.

Not me! Monday {Praying for Stellan edition}

Notmemonday

DSCF4462

A different spin on things this week, in honor of Stellan, MckMama and her MckFamily (Natalie is hosting a surprise Stellan-Style Not Me! Monday over here):

I did not spend a large part of my week checking her site every chance I got as soon as I found out that Stellan had been admitted to the hospital.

I am way too professional to try to figure out a way around the firewall at work so I could read her Twitter updates.

My heart was certainly not in my throat as each update came through, especially this one.

I would never have thought to tell MckMama to forget all about updating "us" and concentrate solely on her dear boy when she posted earlier this week about how tired she was getting.

Of course, I would not have written my first prayer request ever at church this morning about Stellan for our pastor to read during our services.  She did not also pray for Stellan's parents, even though I inadvertently {really!} did leave them out of my request, since she knew that they would also need our prayers.  My request will also not be typed onto a weekly prayer list to be passed out to church members to pray on all week.

I had not spent almost all afternoon on Sunday checking for the latest update (refresh, refresh, refresh!) and hating the fact that there hadn't been one all day up to me writing this post, then feeling guilty that I felt that way.

I didn't get my 7-year old daughter involved by requesting that she think of a way to photograph Stellan's name for his gallery. And she didn't grab the bull by the horns and come up with these cute hand-made letters that she also decorated with little messages like, "God bless Stellan," and with little footprints and footballs.

Keep praying

Stellan's condition has not really changed.  I love Angie's post today--how it says everything in a nutshell, so I hope she will forgive me for linking you there.
